Exercise step by step
Objective: Strengthening the back so you can do garden work without kneeling.
Starting Position: Place a weight in front of your feet. Spread your legs apart so your feet are under your hips. Bend your knees slightly while remaining upright.
Movement: Round your back and slowly and carefully bend forwards while rolling your spine one vertebra at a time.
Lift the weight, unrolling your spine like a string of pearls, then stand with the weight in your hands.
Repeat 2 sets of 12.
Before you begin any of these exercise routines, be sure to check with your doctor. Once you have your doctor’s approval, begin exercising slowly and stop if you feel any pain or discomfort. Make sure to rest if you feel you are overexerting yourself.
