Cuts and grazes

If a cut or graze is deep or severe, it's important to see your GP. For more minor cuts and grazes there's a lot you can do to help stop infection and speed up the healing process

  • Before cleaning wounds or applying dressings, don’t forget to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water and, if possible, wear disposable gloves.

  • Clean the wound by rinsing it under cold running water and carefully wiping away any foreign materials such as dirt or gravel.

  • Don’t try removing anything that’s become embedded though – that should only be done by a medical professional.

  • Gently dry the area around the cut or graze.

  • Cover and protect the area with an Elastoplast SilverHealing plaster.
