If your child has an accident, when do you seek medical advice?

Most minor cuts and bruises can be treated efficiently at home with a first-aid kit. But what if you think the injury needs closer attention?

  • If you have any doubts, call your GP. It's always best to be on the safe side.

  • Deep cuts, objects embedded under the skin, large wounds and burns that are more than a reddening of the skin should always be professionally treated

  • See your doctor if the wound doesn't seem to be healing well. And watch out for signs of infection including redness and swelling of the skin, a yellow discharge, a bad smell or increased pain.
