Cuts And Grazes
Caring for cuts and grazes
Life's a big adventure for children and little accidents are a part of growing up strong and healthy. When treating children's wounds, the basic common-sense rules apply. So keep calm and always wash your hands before you make a start.
Some simple steps for treating children’s wounds:
Explain what you're doing - children need to know what's going on to feel reassured.
A minor wound will soonstop bleeding. If it doesn't, apply a little pressure to the spot with a non stick wound pad. Try Elastoplast Soft Feel Compress which will also reduce the risk of infection.
If the bleeding still continues, keep the pressure on and apply more dressing.
If anything is embedded under the skin, leave it alone, then visit your GP.
Always wipe away from the wound to avoid infection.
Let the area dry and then use a children's adhesive plaster such as Elastoplast's Shrek© plasters which are skin friendly and are easy to remove.
A cuddle and a kiss can work wonders too!
